Öijared
Öijared is located on a peninsula between lakes Mjörn and Sävelången, in scenic surroundings with large forests and whitetop hills and a large and varied plant and animal life. Öijared Säteri has been handed down from generation to generation, from family to family, since the 1000s. And has been characterized by both lords and crofters.
Öijared is a national interest
The area is partly classified as a national interest for its rich natural and cultural values. On our 1750 hectares of land with surrounding lakes, an open and long-term sustainable multi-purpose farm is run today. Our vision is that Öijared, by being made more accessible, will be a meeting place with space for reflection as well as experiences, development and innovation.
A historic place
Öijared manor dates back to the 16th century and history has left its mark. There are ancient monuments such as rock cists, prehistoric barrows and cathedral rings, some thirty small crofts from the 18th century, and pastures with fencing.
Architecture
In 1988, Öijared's clubhouse & Gert Wingårdh were awarded Sweden's finest architecture prize, the Kasper Salin Prize. A surprising choice for a then unknown architect.
The Brandström family
Our vision is that Öijared, by being made more accessible, will be a meeting place with space for reflection as well as experiences, development and innovation.
The fields
Öijared has many open spaces that have been in use for a long time. There are grazed pastures and meadows where we take grass, but above all our open fields today consist of golf courses, with smaller areas also with forest mix for grazing horses, sheep and cattle. As we develop Öijared's game farm, land is also set aside for game reserves and game fields, as well as areas for winter challenge if necessary.
Wildlife
Wildlife on Öijared's land is rich and varied. Fish-rich waters. Moose, deer and hare. A playing capercaillie. Fallow deer, wild boar and a varied bird life.
The lakes
Öijared is a peninsula surrounded by lakes Sävelången and Mjörn. A place characterized by its proximity to water.
The forests
Öijared is characterized by its broadleaf forests, with oak and lime. There is also a lot of hazel, birch, maple, elm beech and larch. But for the most part, the forests consist of spruce and pine.
